Barton Cortright is a cinematographer, over the last 12 years he’s shot over 20 feature films and 100 short films primarily in New York City.
Recent credits include Lucio Castro’s Drunken Noodles (Cannes - ACID), After This Death (Berlinale, Tribeca) as well as Joanna Arnow’s The Feeling that the Time for Doing Something has Passed (Cannes, TIFF, NYFF Magnolia Pictures)
Other recent releases include The Cathedral (Sundance, Venice) The Cathedral went on to win the John Cassavetes Award at the 2023 Film Independent Spirit Awards and receive distribution through Mubi.
Barton graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a BFA and studied lighting design and photography. He has been a guest speaker at Columbia University, NYU, The New School and Brooklyn College.
Barton also hosts a podcast called Lensed where he interviews other cinematographers about their work on independent feature films.
